Magen's Bay

The most popular beach on the island, and with good reason. Magens Bay has been known to be on the list of the World's Best Beaches. Magens Bay is a large (1 mile) bay surrounded by tropical greenery so beautiful that it takes your breath away. Magens Bay is actually a public park and is the only beach on the island which has an entrance fee. The small fee of $3 per person is used to maintain the facilities and the beach. The facilities include picnic tables and bath houses with changing rooms and showers, lockers and beach chaise lounges and floats for rent. There is a boutique next to the concession stand which carries everything from sunblock to string bikinis. The pizza at the concession stand is surprisingly good. The bar will serve you an icy cold beer or whip up one of the islands famous frozen drinks. The beach has a soft slope into the water and deepens gradually so it is great for keeping an eye on the little ones. It is also a great beach for "flinking". "Flinking" is drinking and floating at the same time and at Magens you don't need to worry about spilling your drink! Magens Bay is also one of our webcam locations.

Hull Bay

Ssshhhhh!! Don't tell anyone that we told you about this serene and sparsely populated beach! The residents of the North Side like to think of it as their very own beach paradise. During the week, the only people around are the local fishermen who anchor their fishing boats in this bay. The Hideaway has scuba and snorkeling equipment and lessons, darts and horseshoes, delicious frozen drinks or milkshakes as well as reasonably priced food for lunch and dinner.

Dorothea Bay

This beach is best for experiencing a tropical soul cleansing. The winds blow your hair and whip up the palm fronds. The beach is not suitable for swimming as the surf can be fairly rough and the waves crash on a rocky beach. The lush green of the tropical landscape opens your eyes to the wonder of the island while the wind refreshes your spirit.

Brewer's Bay

This is the Virgin Island's version of ‘college town’ activity! This beach is walking distance from the UVI campus and is practically deserted on the weekdays. It is not connected to any resort or hotel and is undeveloped, but is always clear and almost always calm. Take in some local flavor here and get your beach snack from one of the roadside vans that sell local food like Johnny cake, saltfish plates, rice and beans and cool island drinks. On weekends this beach is filled with locals enjoying the beach while picnicking and celebrating the island.

Lindberg Beach

Also known as Emerald Beach as it is located at the Emerald Beach Resort and the Island Beachcomber Hotel. The beach is full white sand and calm waters. There is a small playground area for the little ones to play at. The beach is very close to the airport and the first time you experience a takeoff you may be shaken a little out of your relaxed doze, but only the first time. This is a favorite beach for island weddings so you will most likely have the opportunity to see a bride and groom wading in the crystal clear water. The resort and hotel have terrific beach bars to quench your thirst and there is an open air restaurant for lunch. The watersports booth rents kayaks, windsurfers and other watersports gear.
